Bomb Threat Investigation: 200 Block of North King Street

The Hampton Police Division is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in connection with a bomb threat that occurred on June 29, 2021.

At 7:03 a.m., Public Safety Communications was notified of a potential bomb threat for the Juvenile Domestic Relations Court located in the 200 block of North King Street. The investigation revealed that an unknown suspect contacted Public Safety Communications and indicated there was a bomb threat for the court building.

Hampton Police Officers and members of the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, and as a precautionary measure, all citizens and employees from the General District Courthouse as well as the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courthouse, and Circuit Courthouse were evacuated.

A second call was received by Communications at 11:09 a.m. also indicating a bomb threat to the building.

A sweep of the courthouse was completed and there were no suspicious devices located. Normal operations resumed at approximately 12:55 p.m. The criminal investigation into the threat is on-going.
