City of Hampton Commemorates National Victim’s Rights Week

Every April, the Hampton Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney and Victim Services Unit commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW). This year’s theme is: How would you help? Options, Services, and Hope for crime survivors. The Hampton Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney will be hosting multiple events during the week of April 21–27, 2024 to highlight this theme.

Events scheduled for the week include:

NCVRW Breakfast:

Date: Monday, April 22, 2024

Time: 8:00 AM

Location: Hyatt Place Hampton

The week will kick off with a breakfast event where community members, law enforcement officials, advocates, and survivors will come together to reflect on the challenges faced by crime victims and discuss available support services.

NCVRW Lighting the Way to Healing:

Date: Wednesday, April 24, 2024

Time: 6:00 PM

Location: Honor Park, Hampton

A solemn tribute will be held at Honor Park to honor the courage and resilience of crime survivors. This observance will feature speeches and a candlelight vigil to remember those who have been impacted by crime.

NCVRW Play — Surviving the Edge:

Date: Thursday, April 25, 2024

Time: 6:30 PM

Location: First Baptist Church Hampton

The week’s events will conclude with a powerful theatrical performance titled “Surviving the Edge,” which explores the journey of survivors navigating the aftermath of crime. This thought-provoking play aims to raise awareness and foster empathy within the community.
