UPDATE: Suspect Charged in Homicide Investigation: 2100 Block of North Roger Peed Drive

Investigators have upgraded this incident to a homicide investigation and identified a suspect in the case. The suspect, a 16-year-old male Hampton resident, has been charged with one count of Homicide, one count of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile, one count of Obstruction of Justice, and one count of Providing False Information to Police. The suspect is currently in custody on unrelated charges out of Norfolk. There is no additional information to release at this time.

The Hampton Police Division is conducting a death investigation as a result of an incident that occurred in the 2100 block of North Roger Peed Drive on April 23, 2022.

At approximately 11:27 a.m., Public Safety Communications received a call in reference to a possible shooting in the 2100 block of North Roger Peed Drive. Upon arrival, officers and members of the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue located a juvenile female victim who was deceased inside of the residence.

The victim has been identified as a 12-year-old Hampton female resident. The investigation revealed the victim succumbed to a gunshot injury.

The circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation. All parties involved in this incident have been identified, and this matter will not impact the safety of nearby residents. There is no further information to disseminate at this time.
