Disturbance at Kecoughtan High School

On April 14, 2022, at approximately 12:26 p.m. the School Resource Officer assigned to Kechoughtan High School notified Public Safety Communications of a fight involving several students that was taking place at the school. The school was placed on a modified lockdown while the situation was being handled, and additional officers responded to the school to provide assistance.

During the incident, the School Resource Officer deployed his issued O/C spray toward one of the aggressive students involved. That student was treated by medics and released on scene with charges pending.

Several other students were detained and released to parents with charges pending. One adult who responded to the scene was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. That subject has been identified as Sequita Vinston, a 31-year-old Hampton woman.

There were no weapons involved and no injuries reported. The investigation remains ongoing, and there is no additional information to release at this time.
