The Hampton Police Division has arrested Marc Anthony Harris in connection with a homicide that occurred on October 23, 2022.

Further investigation revealed that the victim, Brent Vinson, a 52-year-old man, and the suspect, Harris, were engaged in a verbal argument when Harris discharged a firearm towards Vinson, striking him. Harris fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival.

Harris, was arrested on October 26, 2022 in Newport News with the assistance of the Central Area Regional Fugitive Task Force without incident. He has been charged with one count of 2nd Degree Murder, one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, one count of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and one count of Discharging a Firearm in Public.

There is no mugshot for Harris available at this time.

The Hampton Police Division is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s) involved in a homicide that occurred on October 23, 2022.

At approximately 2:58 a.m., Public Safety Communications received a call in reference to a shooting that just occurred in the 1000 block of West Mercury Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim who had been struck by gunfire. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue.

The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation and there is no further information to release at this time.
