Shooting Investigation: First Block of Lakeshore Drive

Jaylin D Bigham, a 24-year-old Chesapeake man, was arrested in connection with this incident. He has been charged with one count of Maiming, one count of Discharge of a Firearm in Public, and two counts of Brandishing a Firearm. There is no mugshot available at this time.

The Hampton Police Division is investigating a shooting that occurred on June 4, 2020.

At approximately 5:41 p.m., Public Safety Communications received a call in reference to a shooting that had just occurred in the first block of Lakeshore Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a 23-year-old adult male who had been struck by gunfire. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was shot by a known individual following an altercation. One adult male has been detained in reference to this incident.

This is an active and ongoing investigation and there is nothing further to disseminate at this time.
